When running The Witcher 3 in Wine, the ground appears very dark in some areas, which looks related to lighting. That does not happen with Nvidia blob. So it can be Mesa specific bug. See corresponding bug in Wine bug tracker: https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=43239 Screenshot: https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=58545 Save which demonstrates the problem (Velen near Hanged Man tree): https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=58570 Game version: GOG, GOTY/1.31. System: Debian testing, x86_64. OpenGL renderer string: AMD Radeon RX 480 Graphics (AMD POLARIS10 / DRM 3.10.0 / 4.11.0-1-amd64, LLVM 4.0.1) OpenGL core profile version string: 4.5 (Core Profile) Mesa 17.2.0-devel (git-277621bbb7) Resolution: 1920x1200. Settings: Max settings for all graphics (ambient occlusion: HBAO+), Nvidia hairworks is off.
After all, Nvidia blob is also affected by this, so it's probably a Wine bug. Closing for now.
