dmesg from 20170721 drm-tip

i915 attempts to perform DP link training on resume with a connector that was reported as disconnected before suspend, which fails with:
[CONNECTOR:55:DP-1] Link Training failed at link rate = 162000, lane count = 4

This occurs when running the hdmi-edid-change-during-suspend IGT test with a Chamelium connected to both the HDMI and DP port of the DUT. The chamelium test will unplug all connectors (through their HPD line), including the concerned DP connector (DP-1). It will then connect the HDMI connector for the test, and suspend. The DP connector remains in a disconnected state, despite being physically attached. i915 then attempts to perform the link training on the DP connector.

If the DP connector is physically disconnected from the start, i915 does not attempt to perform link training for it.

Information about the setup:

* Distro: Arch Linux (NOT using the distro's kernel)

Hello Paul, any news with the latest commits? Preferable drm-tip.
Comment 3 Elizabeth 2018-03-05 19:21:11 UTC
Is this still valid with latest drm-tip? Thank you.

First of all. Sorry about spam.
This is mass update for our bugs.

Sorry if you feel this annoying but with this trying to understand if bug still valid or not.
If bug investigation still in progress, please ignore this and I apologize!

If you think this is not anymore valid, please comment to the bug that can be closed.
If you haven't tested with our latest pre-upstream tree(drm-tip), can you do that also to see if issue is valid there still and if you cannot see issue there, please comment to the bug.
Comment 5 Jani Saarinen 2018-04-20 14:20:20 UTC
Closing, please re-open if still occurs.
