Description Christian Hesse 2017-08-25 11:11:15 UTC
I have systems that start applications that switch to fullscreen mode on their own. Most of the time this works as expected, sometime this results in a small window in top left corner.

This happens with different applications (reproduced with a VMware client and python with webview), different window managers (reproduced with openbox and fluxbox) and different hardware/driver. I think this is a regression from xorg-server 1.18.x to 1.19.0, had the first reports in December 2016.

With debugging output enabled in openbox I see a number of configuration events. In case of issue there are extra configuration events that switch the applications view to a small area in top left corner.

Can you or somebody bisect between those? Does it still happen with current xserver Git master or at least the 1.19.3 release?

It does happen with 1.19.3, yes.

I did not yet try git master as ABI changed and I have to rebuild a number of drivers. Same for bisecting... Next problem is that it happens very seldom and I did not find a way to reproduce reliably.
Comment 7 Christian Hesse 2017-10-12 09:23:00 UTC
This is still an issue with 1.19.4.
Comment 8 Christian Hesse 2018-07-19 14:22:43 UTC
This still happens with xorg-server 1.20.0.
