Description t35t0r 2007-03-11 08:50:17 UTC
The problems I'm going to describe don't occur with i810-1.7.4 and the same version of xorg (1.2.99.901) but do occur with the 1.9.91 i810 driver. I have this device on a compaq presario 2200 laptop Intel Corporation 82852/855GM Integrated Graphics Device (rev 02).

I have an external Viewsonic 19" LCD connected to the laptop that does 1280x1024 natively and the LCD on the laptop does 1024x768. With the 1.7.4 driver I had the laptop set so that its LCD screen doesn't turn on when it's connected to the Viewsonic. With the 1.9.91 driver on boot the laptop LCD turns on and starts flickering heavily. The image on the screen seems to scroll quickly from bottom to top. The display on the Viewsonic LCD is ok. I can't hit the "fn+f5" key to turn of the LCD monitor. I have to use "i810switch lcd off" to turn it off.

Also with 1.9.91 DRI is broken. I'll upload the output of all relevant files.

xorg-server and i810 drivers compiled from gentoo ebuilds with:

gcc version 4.1.2 20070214 (  (gdc 0.23, using dmd 1.007)) (Gentoo 4.1.2)

CFLAGS="-O2 -march=pentium4 -fomit-frame-pointer -msse2"
CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu"
Comment 7 Eric Anholt 2007-03-14 10:13:14 UTC
Please test with the current code from master, which has a few changes that may help with the 855.
Comment 8 Eric Anholt 2007-04-17 11:04:43 UTC
feedback timeout. other 855 LVDS failures were fixed, so assuming that for this as well.
Comment 9 t35t0r 2007-04-17 19:41:04 UTC
So it should be ok now to try xorg-server-1.2.99.905 with i810-1.9.94 ?
