Description dennis.jansen 2004-08-11 07:51:05 UTC
As I am color blind, and can hardly(practically not) see red at all, and know statistically that
many people have a similar problem problem, I think it would be awesome if the X-Server would
redirect the occurence a certain color to a different one. So Redirect Red to Yellow for example
would redirect all Red colors to a green with the same luminance. This would make it really easy
for a color blind person like me to configure the whole system appropriately. Then I would not
have to configure every single application to not use red, if that's an option at all.

I would be very grateful for this to be implemented. Feel free to write to me with any comments.

This is a feature of high-eng commercial screen magnifiers for Windows - see
ZoomText at http://www.aisquared.com (you can download a demo of ZoomText 8.1
for Windows). This is commonly implemented by modifying the color lookup table,
which is rather difficult in 32-bit mode...

this can be implemented with compositing managers, but as such really isn't the
domain of the X server or the low-level libraries. the appropriate place to do
this support is in your desktop environment's compositing manager.
