Created attachment 135732 [details] Content of /sys/class/drm/card0/error Hello, I have an Intel Apollo Lake NUC6CAYH where I run Kodi v17 and also v18 on Ubuntu to watch DVB-T2. For decoding the HEVC streams I use vaapi. When I switch channels I get an GPU hang with a 50% chance. I experienced that hang with Debian Sid, OpenELEC and also Ubuntu. Upgrading to 4.14.2 mainline Ubuntu kernel did not help either. Could you please take a look or suggest a work-around? Thanks, Gregor
The first thing to do is check libva/intel-driver. The error state indicates a userspace error.
First of all. Sorry about spam. This is mass update for our bugs. Sorry if you feel this annoying but with this trying to understand if bug still valid or not. If bug investigation still in progress, please ignore this and I apologize! If you think this is not anymore valid, please comment to the bug that can be closed. If you haven't tested with our latest pre-upstream tree(drm-tip), can you do that also to see if issue is valid there still and if you cannot see issue there, please comment to the bug.
Closing, please re-open if still occurs.
This issue still occurs with kernel 4.17.8 Find attached dmesg with drm.debug=0xe and the error.

Created attachment 140767 [details] /sys/class/drm/card0/error New error with 4.17.8
Rising the priority to High as it is related to GPU hang.
Closing this is not a kernel bug but userspace. Please report the bug for Vaapi team. https://github.com/intel/intel-vaapi-driver/issues/new
