When using xcompmgr and rezise a window, the server crash with a segfault. It only crash in gnome ( haven't tried KDE though ). In fluxbox and xfce4, it only give some artifacts... but it still crash after a while ( when have resized for a bit ) When debugging xcompmgr ( xcompmgr don't crash ) and Xorg, it don't tell which function it can't call or is wrong ( function ?? ). Any help to debug will be apreciated, it's a big blocker for using the xcompmgr manager.
this is probably a dupe of bug #998. can you attach an Xorg.0.log from the crash?
this is not a dupe of #998, it's a segv and not an abort. backtrace to follow.
Created attachment 627 [details] backtrace from resizing gaim under xcompmgr
Adding Keith to CC list so that he's aware of this crash.
i can also trigger segfaults in checkPictureDamage on some popup windows (gaim tooltips, the konsole "80x24" box). hopefully those are symptoms of the same problem.
Created attachment 629 [details] Backtrace from resize gnome-terminal Loaded the binary nvidia driver and ran xcompmgr -cf and then started gnome-termianl and resized it. ( crash when i started dragging. )
Also seeing crash on resize (using the nvidia binary driver). I tried with twm and this actually works fine; I guess because twm doesn't do continuous move or resize.
no longer reproducable on current CVS.
