Created attachment 137245 [details] Linux 4.15.2 messages with `drm.debug=14` On the Dell XPS 13 9360 with Ubuntu 17.10 Linux 4.15.2 (and I believe since 4.14 or 4.15), turning down the brightness to 0 with the function keys, the brightness isn’t increased, when pressing the appropriate keys. Only suspending the system by closing the lid, the brightness is put back to the lowest level.
Hello Paul, any idea which was the last good commit known for this feature?
(In reply to Elizabeth from comment #1) > Hello Paul, any idea which was the last good commit known for this feature? Unfortunately, I do not. I also do not have a way yet to reproduce it deliberately.
The logs don't indicate that we'd get any brightness up changes. We get the decreasing changes until: [ 312.730098] [drm:intel_backlight_device_update_status [i915]] updating intel_backlight, brightness=1/7500 but not back up. Please try using the /sys/class/backlight/intel_backlight/brightness interface directly. Echo values between 0 and $(cat max_brightness) to it, and see if the backlight works that way.
First of all. Sorry about spam. This is mass update for our bugs. Sorry if you feel this annoying but with this trying to understand if bug still valid or not. If bug investigation still in progress, please ignore this and I apologize! If you think this is not anymore valid, please comment to the bug that can be closed. If you haven't tested with our latest pre-upstream tree(drm-tip), can you do that also to see if issue is valid there still and if you cannot see issue there, please comment to the bug.
Paul, any updates on this?
Closing, please re-open is issue still exists.
