I have following in my ~/.xserverrc: 'exec /usr/bin/X -listen tcp'. It has been working like this for many years, but not any more. Currently running xorg-server-1.19.5-r2 (as it is in Gentoo portage). I'm reading manual pages and other documentation, so far came up with nothing. Port 6000 remains closed. Is this feature or bug? It certainly is a bug for me. :(
What method are you using to start the X server? Xorg itself doesn't read .xserverrc - only xinit & startx do.
I use 'startx -- vt1'.
