This bug is NOT PRESENT in kernel 4.9.x, but with manjaro/arch stable kernels 4.14, 4.15, 4.16 and 4.17 the BUG is there always closing the lid.

Is this a regression?  If so, can you bisect?  Does setting amdgpu.runpm=0 on the kernel commandline in grub help?
