Description pavel.madr 2018-06-13 10:13:35 UTC
I'm struggling with missing sound card on Xubuntu 16.04 after the latest OS updates.

There is message in my syslog saying to inform you:
Jun 13 11:33:21 chromium pulseaudio[1459]: [alsa-source-Intel ICH] alsa-source.c: ALSA woke us up to read new data from the device, but there was actually nothing to read.
Jun 13 11:33:21 chromium pulseaudio[1459]: [alsa-source-Intel ICH] alsa-source.c: Most likely this is a bug in the ALSA driver 'snd_intel8x0'. Please report this issue to the ALSA developers.
Jun 13 11:33:21 chromium pulseaudio[1459]: [alsa-source-Intel ICH] alsa-source.c: We were woken up with POLLIN set -- however a subsequent snd_pcm_avail() returned 0 or another value < min_avail.

The syslog errors most likely don't have anything to do with sound card detection problem (clearly there's some sound card detected that is creating these error messages).

What sound card is missing? Can you attach the output from "pactl list"? Use the "Add an attachment" link (sometimes people copy long texts to the comment box, which makes following the discussion difficult).
