When I xrandr --output DP-1-4 --mode 1920x1080;, I get "xrandr: Configure crtc 3 failed". I'm using Radeon with mesa. I have two external monitors attached to this dock one of which always works, but I can't get this one to work. I'm using arch linux and currently have xorg-server 1.20.0-9 package installed (https://www.archlinux.org/packages/extra/x86_64/xorg-server/). When I downgrade to xorg-server 1.19.6+13+gd0d1a694f-2, all outputs (three counting the built-in laptop monitor) work as expected. xrandr; gives Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1920 x 1080, maximum 8192 x 8192 eDP-1 connected primary (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 1920x1080 60.02 + 60.01 59.97 59.96 59.93 48.02 1680x1050 59.95 59.88 1400x1050 59.98 1600x900 59.99 59.94 59.95 59.82 1280x1024 60.02 1400x900 59.96 59.88 1280x960 60.00 1440x810 60.00 59.97 ...snip... I took some guesses at the parameters for this bug report, but if there's a better place to file this, please let me know.
Please attach the corresponding Xorg log file and dmesg output, captured after the problem occurred.
Created attachment 141373 [details] dmesg
Created attachment 141374 [details] ~/.local/share/xorg/Xorg.0.log So sorry...mostly to myself. I really want this fixed and didn't know you were waiting (didn't get an e-mail!?). Attached is the output of dmesg; and my ~/.local/share/xorg/Xorg.0.log. I "Add me to the CC list", so hopefully I'll get e-mails moving forward.
I'm happy to report this is solved. I wasn't checking the bug regularly because it made me sad, but today I decided to run my xrandr script to attempt to activate the monitor. IT WORKED! I checked my package manager and the last time I updated xorg-server was August 20 from 1.20.0 to 1.21.0.
