Kernel mode setting seems to detect resolutions not supported by the screen, so you may be stuck in out of range screen error while using certain applications. Later I tested the installation of xorg-x11-drv-amdgpu Fedora package, and indeed the problem disappeared Note: in both tests the machine has been started with grub command line argument amdgpu.dc=0 due bugreport https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=107465 Kernel 4.17.19-200.fc28.x86_64 # lspci -k | grep -iA 3 vga 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.
