Description Samantha McVey 2018-12-16 00:17:25 UTC
This is an issue on amd-staging-drm-next but not on 4.19.7. I have not tested other kernels. The issue is that if you put the system in suspend and wake it up again, the backlight is off. On 4.19 when you resume from suspend the backlight resumes the same level it was when you put it into suspend.

Please attach the output of dmesg in both cases.

4.20-rc5 dmesg

In addition, this is what happens to the levels of "brightness" and "actual_brightness" before and after sleep on amd-staging-drm-next:

Before sleep:
actual_brightness: 12141 brightness: 102
After sleep:
actual_brightness: 0 brightness: 102

On 4.20-rc5 or 4.19 actual_brightness is not at 0 after resume from suspend.
