Description chris 2019-01-18 20:33:43 UTC
Hi,

sadly with 5.0-rc1 a new bug was introduced for my vega based laptop.
As soon as the laptop display gets powered off due to power saving, it doesn't get powered on again when touching the keyboard. You have to manually adjust the brightness using the display brightness key on the keyboard for being able to see the desktop again.

This does not happen with kernel 4.20.

My System:

Ubuntu 18.10
Linux christian-ThinkPad-E585 5.0.0-050000rc1-generic #201901062130 SMP Mon Jan 7 02:32:47 UTC 2019 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
Extended renderer info (GLX_MESA_query_renderer):
    Vendor: X.Org (0x1002)
    Device: AMD RAVEN (DRM 3.27.0, 5.0.0-050000rc1-generic, LLVM 8.0.0) (0x15dd)
    Version: 19.0.0
    Accelerated: yes
    Video memory: 256MB
    Unified memory: no
    Preferred profile: core (0x1)
    Max core profile version: 4.5
    Max compat profile version: 4.5
    Max GLES1 profile version: 1.1
    Max GLES[23] profile version: 3.2

Many thanks !

Please attach your dmesg output and xorg log (if using X). Possibly a duplicate of bug 109375.

I added the requested logs, might indeed be a duplicate of the mentioned bug.

Hi,

i just tested with a kernel build from today and the issue is fixed with it(is still present in 5.0-rc2) !
Seems it really was a duplicate of your mentioned bug.

Many thanks !
