I tried this with Linux 5.0 and latest drm-tip as of 2019-03-20 and couldn't reproduce this. Issue history shows it consistently reproducing in CI every 2 or so days until 2 weeks ago where it stops completely.

Bug assessment: test was failing regularly till about 2 months ago. Since then it has been skipping with a warning such as "(kms_chamelium:5193) igt_chamelium-WARNING: No configuration file available for chamelium Subtest hdmi-hpd: SKIP". I'm adding Tomi to the bug to see if anything has to be done about the missing configuration file.Thanks!
