Description Andrew P. Lentvorski 2019-11-19 03:24:36 UTC
I really don't know where to send this as it's not really a *driver* bug per se.

If I do:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:oibaf/graphics-drivers
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade

I get a bunch of updates (I specifically wanted the vulkan ones), but glx.h disappears (other files may disappear, but this one causes me a lot of grief).

Executing ppa-purge brings it back.

$ uname -a
Linux foo-x1 5.0.0-36-generic #39~18.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Tue Nov 12 11:09:50 UTC 2019 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

IMO this is a 'oibaf bug', it should declare a dependency to some package that now brings those headers, libglvnd-dev?

Okay, so where do I go to report this bug? oibaf points me here (see below) and closing this bug points nowhere. Searching on launchpad seems to give me no way to report a new bug.

Quoting https://launchpad.net/~oibaf/+archive/ubuntu/graphics-drivers:
> If not you may want to report a new bug:
> for 3D drivers bugs: https://www.mesa3d.org/bugs.html
> for X / 2D driver bugs: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/enter_bug.cgi?product=xorg

Point me at the place to file the bug, and I'll go file it.

Thanks.

Maybe try asking about this here:
https://answers.launchpad.net/~oibaf

The problem likely is that the version of glvnd in oibaf is simply too old and this ppa should ship a more new one which provides the missing development headers.

Thanks. But nothing on that site anywhere allows me to do anything resembling filing a bug report. Maybe I'm being completely obtuse and missing something obvious, but I suspect it's intentional and my account is too new/some hidden score too low to be able to file a bug.

That's very frustrating and it is irritating that I probably will have to slag oibaf on one of the hacker websites in order to get some attention just to file a stupid bug report.

Thanks for all the help. Sorry to both you folks with something irrelevant.

You can close this report now.

Bother not both. Stupid autocorrect.
Comment 6 Andrew P. Lentvorski 2019-11-27 01:27:30 UTC
Filed to launchpad using the email submission interface. Hopefully that will work.
