Description Matthieu Herrb 2007-08-05 09:57:38 UTC
Hi,

I'm using a radeon 9200 in non-mergedfb, non-xinerama mode (ie 2 X screens). This works well with X.Org 7.2 and the xf86-video-ati 6.6.3 driver.

With the 6.6.192 and the 6.6.193 drivers, the 2nd head doesn't get video signal anymore, and moreover the X server segfault either when moving the X pointer to it or when the window manager tries to paint the background of the 2nd screen.

The zaphod-lolz branch more or less fixes the abouve problems for me. There are some glitches though:
- The monitors come up inverted by default (ie Screen :0.0 is now on VGA and :0.1 is now on DVI-0, it used to be the opposite with the last working driver), but I can live with that.
- Upon exit text mode is not restored correctly,
- XVideo produces garbage on screen :0.1 (it used to work long ago).

Ati 6.9.0 works both in zaphod and xrandr mode. I even got someone to check that multi-head (in zaphod mode) still works with 2 cards.
Closing the pr.
