I use the Compiz Fusion Icon to Enable and Disable Compiz Fusion
if i go enable compiz fusion no have problem (most of time but is not aways)
but if i go disable the compiz fusion, crash the system (using compiz fusion icon or shell).. and not access the text mode (Ctrl Alt F1) and i need reset the computer

Compiz information:
Version: 0.5.2 (repository of ubuntu)
Rendering: Indirect (because this is much more fast that direct)

computer informations:
System: Ubuntu Feisty (linux) [i386]
Window Manager: Metacity (default of gnome)
Window Decorator: GTK
Loose Binding: yes (but i don't know what this is)
Driver: NVIDIA 100.14.11

HARDWARE:
Motherboard: MSI K8-MM ILSR [chipset VIA]
Processor: AMD Athlon64 2800+
VGA: XFX GForce 6800XT 256MB (AGP8x)
Memory: 1GB Samsung

Is this still a problem for you? Can you describe precisely what happens when it freezes? Does the mouse move? Does applets/clocks stop updating? etc...
