On many (if not all) Intel graphics cards, the LVDS display is forced to CRTC 1. On a dual-head setup, this has the effect of forcing "screen0" to be on the external display, which is unwanted in many situations. For example, gnome places its panels on screen0 by default. It would be nice if xrandr would permit mapping the screens to the CRTCs in an order other than the default. I realize this is just a feature request, and I've marked it as such. If there's a workaround, please let me know.
I cannot understand how this can be considered a low priority enhancement. The loss of the ability to lock "screen0" to the LCD panel of a laptop is (for me at least) a major loss of functionality compared to previous versions of X. I'm considering trying to revert to an older version of X without Xrandr purely to be able to use it in the way I need. All the nice features of XRandR mean nothing without this. I think this could be a duplicate of 13317.
