I have a Dell laptop capable of 1920x1200 resolution and a docking station connected to a CRT capable of 1600x1200. When docked the display is redirected to the CRT. The resolution should automatically be changed to 1600x1200. The display is redirected, but the CRT resolution remains 1920x1200. The nvidia binary driver automagically makes this change, but not in the nv driver. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): - Fedora Core release 2 (Tettnang) - xorg-x11-6.7.0-5 Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install FC2 on laptop with non-standard display capability 2. modify /etc/X11/xorg.conf by adding 1920x1200 to front of Screen modes list 3. Reboot undocked. X11 will properly display 1920x1200 on laptop LCD 4. Reboot docked. X11 will improperly display 1920x1200 on external CRT Actual results: When docked, resolution remains at 1920x1200 Expected results: When docked, resolution should switch to 1600x1200 without manual intervention as the binary driver does

I've never heard of this. Does the desktop size actually change too with the binary driver, or do you get panning? Which driver does this work with?
With the binary driver the desktop was resized (no panning) when docked. It's worth noting that docking/undocking was done while the system was fully shutdown. I opened the bug so long ago (2.5+ years?!) that I no longer have the hardware to test which driver (binary or nv) produces the desired behavior. For posterity, it was a Dell Inspirion 8500 laptop with GeForce.
Oh, I'm sorry. I misread and thought you were talking about hot-docking/undocking it. The server should be using the EDID information from the external CRT to limit the modes. I'm going to mark this WONTFIX since nobody seems to have this hardware.
