I'm using Fedora Linux on a PPC Powerbook G4. It has Nvidia Geforce FX 5200 graphics with 1024x768 buit-in LCD. When I attach an external LCD monitor with 1280x1024 resolution, close the notebook's lid and use video=ofonly option (which forces the kernel to use OpenFirmware framebuffer driver), the console output looks good until xorg is started. After that, it's no longer readable - I can provide a photo if you want. The comment from Benjamin Herrenschmidt, the offb maintainer, is that "This would be a problem with the X "nv" driver that doesn't restore things properly I suppose. offb is a totally passive driver, it doesn't program the chip by itself." I have attached the dmesg and xorg logs, let me know if anything else is needed or if there are other things I could try.
Created attachment 12195 [details] dmesg log from the kernel

Can you reproduce the bug using vesa?
(In reply to comment #3) > Can you reproduce the bug using vesa? Apple PowerPC laptops don't have an x86 BIOS ROM, so the vesa driver can't work on them. The fbdev driver should work though (or more recently nouveau, but that'll disable offb anyway).
xf86-video-nv has been officially unmaintained for a bit now, and we are closing all -nv bugs. If your problem was not addressed, and -nv is still broken, please try xf86-video-nouveau. Thank you.
