IMHO this is problem in ati driver (when I try to change it to vesa all work
fine). I think, my CRT monitor accidentally detected as LCD, so this line in
config forces Xorg to work properly:
        Option "MonitorLayout" "NONE,CRT"
Comment 3 Jeffrey Drake 2004-11-14 13:19:14 UTC
I have experienced what I believe is the same bug with my radeon 7200 and an NEC 17" CRT monitor.
The proposed fix does not do anything. Not using DDC information does nothing except allow 640x480
to work. Problem exists on 6.8.1. (netbsd ports)

From the log:

I am also going to attach full log and config.

Whats the status of this bug as of current?
Does it work with a current release of xorg/xf86-video-ati?
Comment 7 Erik Andren 2006-04-16 20:51:21 UTC
I'm closing this bug due to the lack of activity. Please reopen if the issue
still persists and is reproduceable.
