Description Michael Skutek 2007-11-12 13:26:02 UTC
During startup of Xserver, starting MPlayer, Screensaver or shutting down the Xserver, it changes the display brightness of my HP 6510b (965GM) to maximum. When I use the notebook buttons for adjusting brightness, the brightness goes back to the previous value +/-1.
The same happens for my HP nc6210 Notebook.
With drivers "i810" or "vesa" the problem doesn't occur.

System: openSUSE 10.3
Kernel: 2.6.22.12-0.1-default
Xorg: 7.2-135.2
no 3D acceleration

Another problem:
Running glxgears kills the Xserver after about 30 seconds...

The backlight brightness issue seems to be dup of bug#11527, which has been fixed in recent xf86-video-intel git (and will be in the upcoming 2.2 release).

For glxgears issue, you can try the latest driver release (2.1.99 or 2.2 which is expected to be released in one week), plus xserver 1.4 and mesa 7.0.2. If you still see the problem, please open a new bug with log attached.
