Reported by Mark Haber on the Debian BTS 2 months ago. His using 1.9.100 on a MGA G550 AGP (rev 01). IIRC, this is a known bug, but I didn't find any corresponding report, so here's one that won't get lost. Config and log are available at the URL above. He says: "I have a G550 dual head which has a proprietary connector and two special cables with either fan out to two VGA connectors or two DVI-D connectors. With both cables, the second screen stays dark. Even with the analog outputs, xrandr claims that it sees two DVI outputs: Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1280 x 1024, maximum 1280 x 1024 DVI1 connected 1280x1024+0+0 408mm x 306mm 1280x1024 75.0* 59.9 1280x960 59.9 1152x864 75.0 74.8 69.8 1024x768 84.9 75.1 70.1 60.0 832x624 74.6 800x600 84.9 72.2 75.0 60.3 56.2 640x480 84.6 75.0 72.8 60.0 720x400 70.1 DVI2 connected 1280x1024+0+0 408mm x 306mm 1280x1024 75.0* 59.9 1152x864 75.0 74.8 1024x768 84.9 75.1 60.0 832x624 74.6 800x600 84.9 75.0 60.3 640x480 75.0 60.0 59.4 720x400 70.1 Additionally, it only wants to do 1280x1024 though both screens are 1600x1200 capable."
I'm also experiencing this bug with Ubuntu Intrepid and the 1.9.100 driver compiled from source. I have the G550 with a single output that splits into 2 VGA outputs (same as the original report). Here is the output from xrandr: Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1280 x 1024, maximum 2560 x 1024 DVI1 connected 1280x1024+0+0 330mm x 270mm 1600x1024 60.2 1280x1024 75.0 60.0* 60.0 1440x900 59.9 1280x960 60.0 1360x768 59.8 1152x864 75.0 75.0 70.0 60.0 1024x768 75.1 75.0 70.1 60.0 832x624 74.6 800x600 72.2 75.0 60.3 56.2 640x480 75.0 72.8 75.0 60.0 59.9 59.9 720x400 70.1 70.1 DVI2 connected 1280x1024+0+0 330mm x 270mm 1600x1024 60.2 1280x1024 75.0 60.0* 60.0 1440x900 59.9 1280x960 60.0 1360x768 59.8 1152x864 75.0 75.0 70.0 60.0 1024x768 75.1 75.0 70.1 60.0 832x624 74.6 800x600 72.2 75.0 60.3 56.2 640x480 75.0 72.8 75.0 60.0 59.9 59.9 720x400 70.1 70.1
