Description Patrice Mandin 2007-12-22 14:58:20 UTC
With Randr 1.2 disabled, switching video modes hangs the Xorg server. You can easily change video modes using keyboard shortcuts [Alt][Ctrl][+] or [Alt][Ctrl][-].

When this happens, the screen turns to black. You can 'unblock' the X server using Alt SysRq S,A,K, but you can't see anything. Switching consoles does not restore mode. So you can only do reset from there, to go back to normal.

Video card is NV30GL, 0x10de:0x0309.
