Description Brice Goglin 2007-12-24 00:53:36 UTC
After expanding the desktop to both screens by command line
"xrandr --output VGA2 --right-of VGA1" the mouse pointer isn't
visible when the mouse is moved into VGA2.
Reported on the Debian BTS 2 days ago by Hans-Gert Schloegl. He's using the 1.9.100 driver on MGA G400/G450 (rev 85). Log and config available at the URL above. He says:

It's possible to move windows into VGA2, even left-click and right-click
works perfectly like on VGA1, it's just the invisible pointer that makes
  "point'n'click" very difficult.

I forgot a piece of context from his report:

After expanding the desktop to both screens by command line
  "xrandr --output VGA2 --right-of VGA1" the mouse pointer isn't
visible when the mouse is moved into VGA2.

I have a similar but slightly different problem with a G550.
I have a VGA and a DVI monitor.

When an application is on the VGA monitor, some cursors appear on the DVI monitor instead. Clicks and movement still goes to the correct location, only the pointer is shown wrong. This happens only with some application-specific mouse pointers, like the hand pointer for the icon on the firefox url bar, the fat-cross pointer in gnumeric (but not the narrow cross) and the pointer/clock pointer in Netbeans.

When an application is on the DVI monitor, these pointers don't show at all!

Setting Option "HWcursor" "False" Makes the problem go away.

Sorry, I totally missed this bug.

In the randr12-ified driver the hardware cursor doesn't work at all. If you're using dual head, you really need to disable the hwcursor. The code should be fixed for this.

Mass closure: This bug has been untouched for more than six years, and is not
obviously still valid. Please reopen this bug or file a new report if you continue to experience issues with current releases.
