I have filled a bug to nautilus on Fedora 8 for this issue:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=432122
After some tests i have done, nautilus lags when opening and closing folders (even empty ones) when localized names is used for common user's folders.

This is true when i use:
Greek menus and Greek folder names

Is not true when i use:
Greek menus and English folder names
English menus and English folder names
