Description Ondrej Caletka 2008-02-17 12:14:32 UTC
It is not possible to change default behavior of LVDS-connected display not to stretch picture to full screen if source resolution aspect ratio is different from display's. So any VESA-standard resolution is distorted.

It would be nice if there were a configuration option, allowing user to select
 a) stretch to full screen (default)
 b) show picture in "native" size, surrounded by black border
 c) (optional) stretch picture to full screen with care for aspect ratio (add letter box / pilar box)

This seems what we want to implement in the new randr.

Jesse, is this releated to #13505?

So called screen scale property?
Comment 3 Jesse Barnes 2008-02-19 10:25:54 UTC
Yeah, this is a dup of 13505. I agree we need better fitting control, but that'll probably be a 2.3+ feature.
