I tried nouveau for the first time today. I used the latest git on Gentoo Linux ~x86. First the wong resolution was used (The TFT has 1600x1200, 1280xsomething was used) and the right resolution was not selectable (log days "panel does not support 1600x1200). When switching Randr12 on as suggested in #nouveau, i got a black screen (but no warnings except one missing function/prototype in the nouveau driver). Sometimes Ctrl+Alt+F1 brought me back to teh console, sometimes not. No idea if it was a freeze, i did not try to reach the pc with ssh, just hit reboot.
Created attachment 15582 [details] Xorg.0.log from first test (1600x1200 not supported).
Created attachment 15583 [details] Xorg.0.log from second test (black screen).
Both attemps show randr-1.2 as disabled, so please upload an appropriate log.
Sorry, i noticed just now that the x-server died before even writing a log. I was not able to get any information about that, nothing on stdout or stderr, not using /etc/init.d/xdm start, nor using startx, also nothing with strace, whih is very strange. The computer freezes, there is nothing on screen and i cannot login using ssh. I have to redo some tests, but it took me about an hour today to get back to a working x configuration, so i will do further tests when i have more time.
Philipp, do you still have the hardware? Have you tried Nouveau lately?
Last time I tried nouveau it took me quite some time to get my system running again with the binary nvidia drivers. I did not try it since, Although I still have the hardware. I will try to look into it this week, but feel free to close this bug as needinfo or invalid until then.

No reponse from the reporter for almost a year. Closing. If the problem still exists on current version, please reopen with new set of logs.
