Description ufa 2008-04-27 12:34:45 UTC
Hello,
My card is a X600 running with free drivers (r300) in Fedora 8 64 bit version.

I am trying to run the game Secret Maryo, but I am receiving the following message:

Warning : OpenGL Version 1.300000 below optimal version 1.4 and higher
Couldn't open preferences file : /home/ufa/.smc/config.xml
*********************************WARN_ONCE*********************************
File r300_render.c function r300Fallback line 364
Software fallback:ctx->Line.SmoothFlag
***************************************************************************
And the game gets slow as hell (as if the OpenGL was disabled)

I tried to report the bug with the devel team of smc, but they thing it is a mesa issue;
http://www.secretmaryo.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1098

And pointed me here:
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11349

But I am still having this problem.

Does anyone know about it?

Anyways, keep up the excellent work in the r300 drivers!

Ufa

Disabling low-impact fallbacks in driconf will make the game run again.

Leaving this bug open and retitling because I'm sure similar bugs have popped up here and there and it'd be nice to track them until we can fix this in HW.

The classic r300 driver has been abandoned long ago.
It was replaced by the Gallium driver r300g.

If you have issues with r300g please file a new bug report with component Drivers/Gallium/r300

Thanks.
