Canadian Aboriginal Syllabics is used by several langauge communities in throughout Canada. It would be good to have this information in fontconfig. I can create all of these files I'll put the information in the Inuktitut Ortography file (ikt.orth), since Inuktitut is the most recognizable language and have the rest be includes. A diff will be uploaded tomorrow or the next day. Created attachment 16891 [details] [review] adds Canadian Aborignal Syllabic Orthographic Info I've included the Canadian Aboriginal Syllabics (CAS) Range to ikt.orth and several other languages that also use CAS. The other languages have 'include ikt.orth'. The various languages use only a subset of CAS, but for all I've just included the whole range from 1401-1676. I thought this would be a good start, since a font that displays one would most likely have the whole range. All of the languages can be reduced to only the subset of CAS that they use, but since I don't speak any of the languages I won't be of much help right now. Blackfoot (bla): Can't find in ISO639-3 Carrier (caf): ISO639-3 has code 'crx' for Carrier and uses 'caf' for Southern Carrier. Chippewa (cjw): ISO639-3 code is 'ciw', not 'cjw'. Soutnern East Cree (crj): fine. Plains Cree (crk): fine. Northern East Cree (crl): fine. Moose Cree (crm): fine. Swampy Cree (csw): fine. Woods Cree (cwd): This file wrongly has Moose Cree in comments. These are all fine, but make me wonder if we shouldn't simply add Cree (cr) instead of all of them. Like we only have 'ar' instead of the 20 or so specific Arabic ones in ISO638-3. Inuktitut (ikt): fine. Montagnais (moe): fine. Naskapi (nsk): fine. Ojibway, Eastern (ojg): Rename to "Eastern Ojibwa (ojg)" Ojibwa, Severn (ojg): Should be "Severn Ojibwa (ojs)" Ojibway, Western (ojw): Should be "Western Ojibwa (ojw)" Same here, shouldn't we just have 'oj' instead of them all? Also, how does this relate to your Ojibwa patch in bug 16188? Shouldn't that one be using 'oj', or be called "Northwestern Ojibwa"? Slavey, North (scs): Should be "Northern Slavey (scs)" Slavey, Southern (xsl): Should be "Southern Slavey (xsl)" So this two actually have different orthographies? Can we have "Slave (den)" only? Note that at some point I want to add support for the ISO639-3 macrolanguage information to fontconfig such that if it will automatically use the 'cr' orthography for all of 'crk', 'crj', etc.

The one thing I know about Ojibwa is that there are some communities that use Roman Orthographies and some use Syllabics orthographies. I'm not an expert on Ojibwa orthography use, but I believe that the language community represented by ojb uses Roman Orthographies.
