Description Jiri Dluhos 2008-06-02 06:24:33 UTC
Recently we have experienced a minor drawing problem with nVidia cards using the "nv" driver: short black lines quickly appearing and disappearing randomly on the screen. The effect occurs only occasionally - about 1-2 times in a minute when the computer is idle, and slightly more frequently when the screen is heavily updated. Apart from being annoying, there is no harm done.

We have tried to find the cause but so far we have no clues because we have only two reported cases; one with a GeForce 2600 TurboCache card and one with a GeForce 7300 SE card.

Interestingly, the problem also occurs with the "vesa" driver, but not with the "fbdev" driver; the proprietary "nvidia" driver is fine as well.

The original bug report we have received about this problem is publicly available in Novell bugzilla:

Nobody is supporting xf86-video-nv and it will be going away at some point in the future. If your problem persists with nouveau or the proprietary driver provided by nVidia, please re-file accordingly. We apologize for the inconvenience.

This is part of an automated bulk action; if you believe that this bug was closed in error, then change the targeted component and reopen it.
