Description Michael Nottebrock 2004-10-17 14:52:09 UTC
I'm not sure if it's just a lack of a suitable utility or actually a design
flaw (xset only works per display, but dpms powersaving is a hardware property
and should be switchable per screen).

Same applies to other extensions such as "FBPM" (framebuffer power management),
too...

Sorry about the phenomenal bug spam, guys. Adding xorg-team@ to the QA contact so bugs don't get lost in future.

keith, does randr 1.2 handle this? if so, should it not?
Comment 4 Keith Packard 2007-04-07 23:52:35 UTC
RandR doesn't have per-CRTC DPMS yet, but it could be added fairly easily now that we have handles to the hardware resources. Of course, an application can easily turn a CRTC off, but that's not exactly what we want.

Let's figure out how to extend RandR to do this and a few other fun things.

After several years and a lot changes in X11 and the way to talk to the hardware, any change to have this feature implemented
