Description Adam Treat 2004-01-14 21:37:51 UTC
I've compiled and installed everything using the script found here:
http://xserver.freedesktop.org/Software/XserverInstallGuide

... on my old IBM ThinkPad 380ED. The ID is 2635-5AU and the specs can be
found here:
http://www-3.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=RJJR-3RVK73

I start Xvesa according to the aforementioned doc and the result is a bad
mode. Various red blotchy borked kruft.

I've gone through the various nodes, but none work perfectly. I can use the
800x600x(15 ||16) modes, but the color is way off. I've used the -screen
option and specified all the various modes I can think of... none work with
complete success. All have the wrong color and various visual noise.

The driver for the card in XFree86 is neomagic. The XFree86 driver also
suffers from visual fragments every once in awhile. (nothing like the
distortion found in the modes above with Xvesa though...) Particularly while
rendering jpegs/pngs.

That's it. Thanks for all your work Keith and gang :)

The old kdrive tree is dead. As far as we can tell, this bug no longer applies to the current Xorg server tree. If it does, please reopen this bug and change the product to 'xorg' and the component to 'server/general'.
