We need to add OO.o Impress as a handler for .pps files. These are MS PowerPoint
presentations.

shared-mime-info should correctly identify .pps files as
application/vnd.ms-powerpoint. It's up to your distro or to OOo to register
Impress as a handler for those files, shared-mime-info doesn't store these
associations.
