Driver version: 2.4.2 with a patch listed here

If AccelMethod is set to "EXA", X fails to start, and will not start again set to XAA until I reboot
Vanilla kernel 2.6.26.5
GCC 4.1.2

Please let me know if I can try any patches to resolve this. 
Also, XV does not work, it says failed to allocate resources, but I hear that it works with EXA acceleration.  Please fix! Thanks!

So you indicate it can start with XAA enabled, right?

Sure, sorry.  Yup, works great with XAA.  EXA just freezes within seconds.

I can confirm the same behaviour; XAA works but EXA crashes/hangs. Also see bug 17460, which seams to be the same as this one (and has backtraces).

It's the same for me. 

I'm not even sure if this chipset has the old style Xv overlay. At least xvinfo only detects textured video.

The new chipset doesn't have video overlay.
