Instead of seeing the expected screens, the screen presented is black with white horizontal 'flecks' across it. There are no error messages. After waiting for 10 minutes there is no change. Reproduction: On a laptop featuring the Nvidia Geforce4 440 Go mobile graphics chip, using the Hardy Live CD, select the install or start Ubuntu menu. Wait. You should have the problem above. Nobody is supporting xf86-video-nv and it will be going away at some point in the future.
