When upgrading the OpenBSD version of X from XFree86 4.4 to X.Org 6.8.1, some binary incompatibilies in shared libs were discovered, which has not be accounted for by a shared lib revision bump. (OpenBSD manages its shared libs revision independtly in OpenBSDLib.tmpl, because some changes in libc made it necessary to bump the major rev. of all libs depending on libc and this includes X libs).
