I'm running ubuntu intrepid on a powerpc (ibook g4).
Version of evince: 2.24.1 Using poppler 0.8.7 (cairo)
Version of cairo: 1.8.0-0ubuntu1

I have exactly the same problem as shown in the URL. Even the background of the example image is yellow instead of white. It was suggested to open a bug report here.

Poppler does not render ps files.
