Description Bernhard Rosenkraenzer 2008-12-20 10:07:38 UTC
On a Compaq Presario CQ70 (Graphics chip PCI ID 8086:2a42, subsystem 103c:360b), the X server crashes on startup with xf86-video-intel 2.5.99.1 with a virtually useless backtrace.

Backtrace:

The vesa driver works fine.

Fatal server error:
Caught signal 11. Server aborting
Comment 1 Bernhard Rosenkraenzer 2008-12-21 14:54:55 UTC
This is a problem in the interaction between the Intel driver and xorg-server 1.5.99.x.

If I rebuild the 2.5.1 driver (which used to work before, with xorg-server-1.5.2), the crash still happens.

1.5.99.x with the vesa driver works fine though.

It is not a DRI error, it still happens if I remove /usr/lib/dri/i*_dri.so
Comment 2 Wang Zhenyu 2008-12-21 18:25:52 UTC
This looks dup of #19017 which has been fixed in xserver, but is not in xserver 1.5.99.3 yet. Please pull current server-1.6-branch of xserver, and test again.
Comment 3 Bernhard Rosenkraenzer 2008-12-22 03:05:16 UTC
Yes, updating the X server to current 1.6 branch helps
