Description yotam 2009-01-11 11:47:19 UTC
Dear sir.

II have Intel graphic card of g45 series. My machine is located somewhat far from my screen and I had to use a 3m cable. The cable that was shipped with my screen is dvi-d single link (18+1 pins) and the only cable I could find was 24+1 cable.

Using windows xp I had no trouble but on linux, xorg report "no screen found" with three distro (ubuntu, mint and opensuse).

I hope you are the right address to turn to.

I don't know of anyone with short cable of dual link type so I can't tell if the trouble is with the 24 pins.

below is the log output.

Thank you.

Yotam

The driver is 2.4.1. Zhenyu, do you think recent driver may have fixed it?
Comment 2 Wang Zhenyu 2009-01-11 23:58:03 UTC
No idea, but good to try 2.5.99.2 release, and with ModeDebug option on X log.

I wouldn't mind checking this but I need some howto info. I think it would be easy if there was a distro with this driver built in.
Comment 4 Wang Zhenyu 2009-01-12 00:24:43 UTC
You can download the tarball from http://xorg.freedesktop.org/archive/individual/driver/. It requires libdrm 2.4.3.
Comment 5 yotam 2009-01-12 02:06:22 UTC
I'm such an idiot

I checked my screen connection again and found that the cable is not fully plugged in.

Sorry guys.
Comment 6 Wang Zhenyu 2009-01-12 17:11:00 UTC
ok. Anyway we've also seen too long connect line causing display problem, so if you would hit it, also try a shorter one. ;)
