Description Roland Mainz 2004-11-30 18:12:41 UTC
[I've reported this several times in the xorg@freedesktop.org mailinglist but it
doesn't seem to work yet... ;-(]

The xorg-commit mailinglist is currently defunct - for some people we get commit
messages and for others we don't get any notification emails, even when the CVS
commit log contains the statement: "Mailing the commit message to
xorg-commit@lists.freedesktop.org...".

I just did a commit to the Xorg CVS but there is still no commit notification
even after two hours... ;-(

Daniel/Keith:
[As discussed in todays release-wranglers call]
Can you please take a look at the problem ? We can't really commit to the
X11R6.8.x branch without having a public verification (=the commit notification
emails and the xorg-commit list archive) what has been commited to the branch
and what not...

yes, this is done now. the commit script is cleverly broken to generate
roland@fd.o, egbert@fd.o, etc, as from addresses, instead of the username, which
is why they were all held for moderation by kaleb, who does not exist at the
moment, as far as i can tell. so i took the list over while i was at it.

the xorg commit hook script is really badly broken.

i beat it until it started sending from headers of daniels@fd.o (f.e.) rather
than 'Daniel@freedesktop.org, Stone@freedesktop.org, , ,
<xorg-commit@cvs.freedesktop.org>' or something. i don't know what went wrong,
but someone needs to actually fix it properly, because the lists weren't at
fault, it's that the from headers were all absolutely stuffed.

Uhm... kaleb does exist... but AFAIK his accounts are gone so he wasn't really
able to look at the problem...

Is it possible that I can get the password for the list, too (that there are two
people who can look at moderator requests of the xorg-commit list), please ?

AFAIK the only "expert" for that script is Egbert Eich (my perl knowlegde is
outdated and rotten... and I bet when I play around with the script then I'll
break it in a even more worse way) ...

Reassigning bug to Egbert for now as AFAIK he is the only living person on this
planet left over who knows how to get the script to do the right stuff... :)
