Description Stephen Montgomery 2004-12-01 13:03:34 UTC
Hi -
I'm getting X crashes (sometimes on start-up) but more frequently when the
computers has run for a while or is doing intensive memory/CPU operations. The
latter seems to be the trigger.
I'm not sure if this is an X bug though but the error logs look like this:

I have googled to no avail (gtna) on these errors trying to find out what this
could be.

Thanks for any help!!!

All the best,
Stephen

PS As a side-note freedesktop.org gives an e-mail for "is it a bug?" discussions
as xorg@freedesktop.org. However, sending to this list gave an automatic
rejection. :) Good call.

please attach the full X log, which should be in /var/log/Xorg.0.log

The Xorg Log File

The Xorg log file from a previous crash. Seems to happen when I start up 3D
apps. GLXGEARS was crashing but was stable today then I tried just starting
tuxracer. Everytime it crashed but just went back to the fedora OS - the third
time it was a hard crash. This is log file from that session
Comment 3 Stephen Montgomery 2004-12-12 18:17:14 UTC
Added the log file. Had to wait until I got a good crash. Also memtested the
RAM to make sure it wasn't a memory problem I was having - was seeing 3D
artifacts, looked like missing rectangles in a checkboard pattern at a fixed z
distance from the screen (i.e. close objects were rendered fine, far away stuff
was checkerboard). but I had a bad module, removed it, validated the RAM and
then kept going. Ran glxgears saw checkerboard, but didn't crash - went into
save mode, returned a checkerboard was not reproducible. Even on reboot.
However, tuxracer crashed on startup - the third time freezing the system. Got
the log file for that. Maybe my video card drivers are wrong. Hopefully, I'm
not an idiot for submitting a bug report when it is likely pebcac. All the best.
Comment 4 Adam Jackson 2005-07-01 14:05:58 UTC
blaming this one on the radeon drm. recommend updating to 2.6.12 or whatever
the latest FC kernel is, many stability fixes since december.

please reopen if this continues to be an issue.
