See URL. On Fedora Core 3 I installed a Savage IX based PCI card and attempted to configure it. It insists on running in 640x480 mode, despite being attached to a monitor capable of 1600x1200 and configuration to use same.
the IX is a mobile chip and often the desktop cards are wired such that the driver thinks an LCD is attached. try adding: Option "CrtOnly" "true" to the device section of your config. The option may be broken in some versions of Xorg (I haven't tried it in 6.8.x), but should work with xorg from cvs.
In the xorg from Fedora Core 3 (Haven't tried the CVS version), turning on CrtOnly for resolutions 640x480 and 800x600 give a display that is clearly broken. Other resolutions make my monitor very unhappy (I get flashing garbage before it puts up an Out Of Range error message.) I'll try to build the CVS xorg on my fc3 box and try it some time.

IME mode setting without the BIOS is broken on Savage/IX hardware.

I dunno about the crt port, it should in theory, but it's been a while since I tested it.
Exactly the same problem here, with the latest ubuntu build of xorg: X Window System Version 6.8.1.902 (6.8.2 RC 2) (Ubuntu 6.8.1-1ubuntu16 20050209180945 root@rockhopper.warthogs.hbd.com) My Savage IX is attached to a Philips 107T crt display, and using Option "UseBios" "true" and/or Option "CrtOnly" "true" don´t make any difference, although it doesn't look broken, just the usual way, but always fixed to 640x480. (II) SAVAGE(0): Not using default mode "1024x768" (exceeds panel dimensions)

Created attachment 3153 [details] my xorg.conf file Seems that this problem is not fixed yet. System is IBM T-23 notebook (Model: 2647-3RG) with SuperSavage IX/C SDR card. Only resolution 640x480 is available (see attached log). Is it already fixed in CVS?

Did Alex advise resolve your problem?
Ping to the bug submitter!
I'll have to dig the card out of the junk pile, and find a modern box to try it on. I'll try to get to it soon.
Thanks, it's appreciated.
