Created attachment 23902 [details] xorg log from startup, installed Fedora On Fedora 10, both in the live CD and an up-to-date desktop install X fails to start a graphical login. Virtual terminals still work, installing the closed nvidia drivers works. The behaviour is slightly different between the two. In the desktop install the text mode start-up display flickers many times at the point where X should be started before giving up. The live cd simply presents a blank screen, the virtual terminals are still available and activity at ~1minute suggests the auto-login has worked so gdm is actually running. Installed packages on the desktop install: xorg-x11-drivers-7.3-9.fc10.x86_64 kernel-2.6.27.19-170.2.35.fc10.x86_64 Working nvidia drivers: kmod-nvidia-2.6.27.19-170.2.35.fc10.x86_64-180.29-1.fc10.1.x86_64 (N.B., to test the nv drivers on the installed system I uninstalled all nvidia related rpms and reinstalled mesa-libGLU just in case) Monitor flat panel connected via DVI. nv drivers work on the same machine and panel with an onboard Geforce 6150. (live CD mentioned as it cannot have been contaminated with libs from closed driver) I'm attaching the Xorg log for the nv driver on the live cd and installed system and the nvidia drivers on the installed system.
