Description Fabrizio Lanza 2004-12-17 02:25:22 UTC
Hello,
I get a strange error/crash of xawtv. After a little investigating, I came out
that it might be a problem/bug in the xorg server, or DRI (the failing file is
sis_alloc.c)

I have a notebook (Gericom webboy) with a sis630 card.
I also have the USB Logitech Quickcam Express. I use the correct module for
it. It works with gnomemeeting.

This is the xawtv error:

bash-2.05b# xawtv
This is xawtv-3.86, running on Linux/i686 (2.6.9-gentoo-r9)
/dev/v4l/video0 [v4l]: no overlay support
v4l-conf had some trouble, trying to continue anyway
ioctl: VIDIOC_QUERYCAP
(driver="";card="";bus_info="";version=0.0.0;capabilities=0x0 []): Unknown
error 515
Warning: Cannot convert string "-*-ledfixed-medium-r-*--39-*-*-*-c-*-*-*" to
type FontStruct
[sis_alloc.c:210]: Failure to allocate back buffer.

you need to add a line to the Driver section

 Option "MaxXFBMem" "12288"

if you aren't using sisfb in the kernel...

CVS version now uses a reasonable default if the option is missing. Closing.
