Description Jim Gettys 2004-02-25 09:32:25 UTC
XF86 has stale freetype bits. Installing them breaks people's systems.

When X is built, the default should be to use the installed version
of freetype.

So the configuration should default to off, or maybe removed completely,
as the server can now use the installed version as a normal shared
library and we no longer have the loadable module problem that was
still present in 4.3 (IIRC).

This should also be release noted, with at least one known to work
version of freetype.

Fixed for Linux.
Please tell me which other systems have libfreetype supplied with the OS.

The rlease notes have been written. They just need to be updated if we
add more platforms which have this as the default.
