Description Frank Reichart 2009-05-22 07:22:02 UTC
Beagle 0.3.8 does not recognize the attached OpenOffice.org document.
Using an OpenSUSE 11.1 system shared-mime-info 0.51-12.14 is installed.

Beagle output:

Filename: file:///mnt/ReadyNAS/Documents/Literatur/Oekonomie/Hacia_una_economia_mas_humana.odt
Warn: bibparse is not found; bibtex files will not be indexed
Debug: Loaded 64 filters from /usr/lib/beagle/Filters/Filters.dll
Debug: Verifying filter_cache at /home/ref8st/.beagle/filterver.dat ... cache is dirty ? False
Debug: No filter for file:///mnt/ReadyNAS/Documents/Literatur/Oekonomie/Hacia_una_economia_mas_humana.odt (/mnt/ReadyNAS/Documents/Literatur/Oekonomie/Hacia_una_economia_mas_humana.odt) [application/octet-stream]
Filter: (determined in .24s)
MimeType: application/octet-stream

As the mime type is not correctly recognized by Beagle (other applications like Nautilus or Dolphin do), Beagle cannot determine the right filter to index the content, although to the available Beagle documentation Oasis is a standard filter in Beagle. According to the documentation a bug report should be committed to this Bugzilla section.

The same symptom applies to other OpenOffice or MS Office documents.

If somebody can show me it's not a Beagle bug, then I'd be happy to test this. But given that the only thing I have is some debug output (I don't even know whether beagle uses shared-mime-info).
