Not sure it would be appropriate, but from a font metadata display point of view, it would be nice to have it.

I'm still unsure about the usefulness of this.  I think we shouldn't make a FcPattern include *all* interesting info about the font.  Just what's related to selecting fonts.

Agreed. I don't think we want to replace the features in the corresponding libraries/applications and make fontconfig all-in-one library for fonts. one is accessible through FT_Face easily for this information. so let's close this if you like.
